A high-risk search warrant turned into a police shooting Wednesday when an officer killed a man who had a gun in his hand in a house with several other firearms, cocaine and two children, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
At least five officers were at the door to the home in the 200 block of Century Street — between Atlantic Boulevard and the Arlington Expressway — when a man with a gun inside the home turned toward the group of officers about 2 p.m., Undersheriff Pat Ivey said.
