A 39-year-old passenger on a Harley-Davidson died after a crash in Clay County early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Shane’ Griffin Gowens of Lawtey was thrown from the motorcycle about 3:05 a.m. on Black Creek Drive and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol.
Christopher Wayne Gowens, 37, of Lawtey was driving the motorcycle south on Black Creek Drive when he failed to negotiate a turn and drove into a ditch.
He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
