An experienced motorcyclist who lost his life Wednesday night when a van turned in front of him on a Jacksonville highway is a hero in the eyes of one woman — whose daughter was at first misidentified.
That woman is Margaret Johnson and her daughter was on the back of the motorcycle when it crashed on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway about 7:35 p.m.
Roniesha Weatherspoon, 17, was taken to a hospital and is now recovering from her injuries, but 26-year-old Robert Haynes is dead although he did everything he could to avoid the van, Johnson said.
