The University of Florida agreed to pay nearly $20 million Friday to settle allegations from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that the university improperly charged them for salary and administrative costs on hundreds of federal grants between 2005 and December 2010, according to the United States Department of Justice.
The grants in question were given to campuses in Jacksonville and Gainesville during that time but school officials said the issues stemmed from bookkeeping deficiencies that were discovered about nine years ago.
