A 52-year-old Jacksonville man was found dead inside his apartment on University Boulevard late Friday night after shots were heard in the area, police said.
Officers found Jackie Lee Harris dead inside his unit at the La Esperanza apartments at 3830 University Blvd. S. after responding to a report of shots fired, police said.
The officers were directed to Harris’ apartment and found the door open when they arrived, police said.
Harris was pronounced dead and homicide detectives were called to investigate.
