Darryl Daniels is set to become the first ever black sheriff in Clay County when he takes over for longtime Sheriff Rick Beseler in January. But Daniels said Wednesday his goal is to be more than the next sheriff or the first black sheriff. He wants to be a great sheriff.
“It speaks real highly of the direction Clay County is going,” Daniels said of his election. “Any [racial] stigmas that were associated with Clay County were broken last night.”
