The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is using a five-year payment plan — including a warranty over that time — to equip staff with a new model of Taser after looking into the most efficient way to replace current equipment.
The deal is for 2,630 Taser X26P Smart Weapons, costing the city $969.60 each, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The value of the total deal is $2,550,048.
“The plan replaces all existing inventory with a new model and no interest costs,” said Lauri-Ellen Smith, assistant to Sheriff Mike Williams.
