The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a driver who died Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 17 in East Palatka when his truck flipped into a ditch.
Gregory Smith, 59, of Satsuma was southbound in a Ford F-150 on U.S. 17 near Reed-Bell Street just before 10 a.m. when he drove off the road into the right shoulder before crossing back through the southbound lanes, through the median and into the northbound lanes, according to the Highway Patrol. Smith hit a guardrail and the truck flipped onto its roof.
