Authorities are investigating after a body was found Tuesday morning inside a badly burned vehicle in a stretch of forest in Clay County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A passerby notified authorities after spotting a vehicle fire about 8:15 a.m. off Nolan Road in Jennings State Forest and human remains were found inside after crews extinguished the fire, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The fire damage was so severe that the gender of the victim could not be determined and the license plates and the vehicle identification number were melted, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
