The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a 61-year-old man who died in a head-on collision in Putnam County Friday morning.
David E. Freeman was westbound on Florida 100 in a Nissan pickup truck east of Palatka when he smashed into the front of a flatbed tow truck that had pulled onto the shoulder to try to avoid the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
Witnesses told authorities Freeman was seen crossing into the opposite lane of traffic about two or three miles before the crash, according to the FHP.
