The division chief of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services offered her resignation this week but will continue working in the position until Oct. 7, according to her resignation letter.
The letter sent by Nicole “Nikki” Harris was dated Sept. 13 and called her resignation a “difficult decision to make.”
Harris and another executive were accused in an August whistle-blower letter of falsifying numbers to maintain no-kill status at the shelter and turning away animals from the shelter.
