A Jacksonville church donated $6,000 to First Coast Crime Stoppers Thursday to increase the reward for information leading to an arrest connected to a recent attack and sexual assault on an 8-year-old girl in a wooded area near Jacksonville University.
The total reward is now up to $8,000.
Police said the 8-year-old girl was attacked Aug. 10 about 6:40 p.m. behind a church and building in the 2900 block of University Boulevard North. She underwent several hours of surgery.
