As students in Duval County prepare for summer vacation, a group of men are also preparing to mentor those same children in an effort to stop some of the violence in area communities.
Bishop John Guns led a gathering Thursday night at Open Arms Christian Fellowship on Dunn Avenue to kick off a project named “A Call for 1,000 Men.”
Guns’ message Thursday night was clear:
“We need to remove the stigma that black men don’t care,” he said to the group, which was made up mostly of black men from the community.
